  1. What would my main responsibilities be in working with you?

Our Christian Youth in Action workers are first and foremost teachers. You will have direct personal contact with approximately 400 children during a full summer with us. We will provide training to prepare you to teach exciting Bible lessons and missionary stories, to be able to lead singing, teach a memory verse and have fun games and review times.

  2. How would I spend a normal day?

As a Christian Youth in Action worker you would teach clubs each day in four different locations, one at 9:30 a.m., one at 11:00 a.m., one at 1:30 p.m., and one at 3:00 p.m. The materials you teach would be the same at each club location. You will spend your evenings with your host family and participate in their activities as well as review your lessons for the next day and mark follow-up lessons, which the children will bring to you each day.

  3. Where would I teach and how would I travel from club to club?

The clubs and travel are pre-arranged by CEF with a club co-ordinator in each area. You will have four clubs and a location for lunch already arranged for you. A host family in the area will billet you for the week you are there.

  4. Would I do the same thing every day of the week?

Monday to Friday would be similar but with a variety of children changing in each location and different stories each day of the week. Saturday will be your MOVING DAY. You will travel to your new billet and get settled in. It is also the day to confirm all your next week's club locations (travel, club invitations, club times, etc.) Sunday will be spent with the host family, possibly taking an assigned responsibility in their church program. On the long weekend in August you will be allowed to go home, other than that we expect you to remain in your assigned area for the weekend. If club advertising needs to be done for any club, you would spend the afternoon doing that. Sunday is also the day to get well prepared, mentally, spiritually, and physically for the next week of clubs.

  5. Would I be on my own or would I have a partner?

Well, yes and no! Normally you will have a partner in accommodations, travel and relaxation time. In teaching for the most part, you will be on your own, except in the event of a cancelled club, then you would teach with your partner. If you are assigned rural clubs, you would be in one town for the week and your partner in another town then move to the next area on the weekend with your partner.

  6. What is the remuneration for the summer?

Child Evangelism Fellowship of Saskatchewan plans to pay each worker $100.00 for the 10 days of training and $50.00 per week for each week they teach clubs. We also have a CYIA Support Program in which each CYIA worker can raise up to an additional $250.00 per week they teach clubs and also an additional $500.00 for attending the 10 days of training through fund raising support from family, friends, and their local church. By doing this each worker could earn up to $2,400.00 by teaching 6 weeks of clubs and attending the 10 days of training. All funds paid to the CYIA worker include vacation pay and any amounts over $1,200.00 will be subject to a 12% administration fee to cover the costs of E.I. and C.P.P. deductions. All support raised must be received by the CEF office by August 25th. Your final paycheck will be made five days after your last working day with all personal support raised included.

There will be a deduction of $50.00 at the end of the summer for your teaching material, which you had for the summer. This fee does not cover the cost of the materials as they have a retail value of well over $100.00. You will be able to use them through out your lifetime of ministry in your local church and any other opportunities God brings your way.

We appreciate your interest in this ministry and look forward to hearing from you. You can call me if you have any further questions. My home number is 306-586-5588. May God bless you and guide you as you consider this ministry for this summer.

    Yours truly,
